... That One Thing

We all have that one thing. Yea, that one thing that has been telling us lies from the very beginning. It sits deep within our conscience, within our brain cells, and literally has the power to shape a human being’s life. This one thing’s one and only job is to counter you. It’s to remind you of the opposite of who you should be.

Over a long period of history, year after year after year, humans cannot get over the fact that this one thing is destroying their lives. Simple statements, simple lies, have the authority, audacity, and jurisdiction to tear down kingdoms and destroy lands.

I realize that this one thing cannot be destroyed by anything natural; you must tap into the spiritual realm. Here is the thing tho, this thing is that powerful that you even have to be careful when you tap into the spiritual realm because, with the wrong move, all of a sudden, you are making this thing more powerful than it needs to be.

Think back. Think back to your betrayals, abandonments, or dark moments in life. What were you masking? What was this thing saying to you? Now, think of how you overcame. Did you overcome by natural defenses—medications, sex, etc.—or did you overcome spiritually?

One more thing: when Jesus was talking to the people, He said, “I came that you might have life, life more abundantly.” That doesn’t mean this thing doesn’t exist. It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have power. It doesn’t even mean that it erases all the pain. It does mean that each time it tries to conquer, there’s an even greater force that wins that battle.

The ache of wanting to be healed is desirable, especially when it comes to mental health, but maybe the real win of the battle is to surrender the loss of your own self to God each and every time. If you didn’t need to go to Him anymore, what would be His worth?

Ion know. I think all of this is coming from the fact that when I think of how deep my issues were, how complex I have been, I realize I am the same as everyone else. I am just reacting differently, but not by my power—by His.
